This policy explains what personal data Studio L1 collects when you visit insights.studiol1.com (the “Journal”), why we collect it, and what rights you have over it. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.

What we collect, and why
If you subscribe to our emails
We collect your email address, and your first name if you choose to give it. We use this only to send you the content you asked for — new articles, occasional guides, and studio news.
Legal basis: your consent, which you give by subscribing. You can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by writing to us.
Retention: we keep your details until you unsubscribe, and for a short period afterwards to make sure you are not re-added in error.
Our email service provider is Brevo (Sendinblue), which stores this data on our behalf within the EU.
If you leave a comment
We collect the name, email address and any website address you enter, along with your IP address and browser information. This is used to publish your comment and to help detect spam.
Legal basis: your consent, and our legitimate interest in preventing abuse.
Retention: comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so that follow-up replies remain readable in context. You may ask us to delete yours at any time.
When you simply read the site
Our hosting provider automatically logs standard technical information — IP address, browser type, pages requested, and the time of the request. This is used to keep the site running, diagnose faults, and protect against attacks.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating a secure, functioning website.
Analytics
We use analytics to understand which articles are read and how people find them. This tells us what to write next. Where analytics cookies are used, they are set only with your consent via the cookie banner.
Affiliate links
Some articles contain affiliate links. When you click one, the retailer may set a cookie that tells them we referred you, so that we receive a commission if you buy something. We do not receive your name, address, payment details or order contents — only anonymous confirmation that a sale occurred. Each retailer’s own privacy policy governs what they collect once you are on their site. See our Affiliate Disclosure for more.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use:
Essential cookies — needed for the site to work, for example remembering your cookie choices or keeping you logged in if you have an account. These do not require consent.
Analytics cookies — help us understand how the site is used. Set only with your consent.
Affiliate cookies — set by retailers when you click an affiliate link, so that a referral can be credited.
You can change or withdraw your cookie choices at any time through the cookie settings link, or by clearing cookies in your browser. Blocking cookies may affect how parts of the site work.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers who help us run the Journal, and only as far as they need it:
Bluehost — website hosting
Brevo — email delivery and subscriber management
Analytics provider — anonymised usage statistics
Affiliate networks — referral tracking, as described above
Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:

Have inaccurate data corrected
Have your data deleted
Restrict or object to how we use it
Receive your data in a portable format
Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what was done before

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you may complain to the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon) at aki.ee, or to the supervisory authority in your own country.
Children
The Journal is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use HTTPS encryption across the site and take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site develops or as the law changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be flagged on the site.
